I took it out of the library and quickly found myself drawn into the lives of Dilpreet and his daughters Jasmeet and Simran. Writer Anusree Roy follows the family over several days as they prepare to open a sari shop in Toronto for Canada Day. The deeper we go the more we discover about the expectations of Dilpreet, the dreams of Jasmeet and the mental-health crisis that Simran is under-going. For me, the piece shines a light on a family who collectively dream of a future while being haunted by the past, and how they continuously learn how to care for each other along the way. Beautifully crafted by playwright Anusree Roy.”
